Karla Kolb is a textile embroidery artist residing in Fauquier County, VA with her husband and two children.  She is an elementary school fine arts educator.  Karla is originally from New York City.  She holds a B.A. in Art History/Studio Art from Fordham University and an M.S. Ed from the University of Pennsylvania.  She uses her love of sewing and three dimensional soft sculpture to create autobiographical pieces that draw from her early experiences, some of which were traumatic in nature.  Her goal is to share these pieces with other people, specifically women, who have shared similar experiences.  She would like to create a dialogue that would foster healing and ideas to promote change in how women view themselves.  Karla has been working under the mentorship of Edgar Endress, Chilean born international artist and George Mason University Professor in Fairfax, VA.  She is grateful for his inspiration and belief in her as an artist.
